Monday, November 9th. Closing Ceremony


To conclude the teaching practicum I, we decided to make a closing ceremony in order to thank and reward students participation during this period.

We meet students at 9:30 as always, but this time to share a fun time with them. Moreover,teachers had already decorated the classroom with ballons and color papers to create a cozy environment.

During the class, we played many dynamics and students were excited to participated because the winning student got a prize and kids really enjoy to do this dynamic.


Then, we watched the videos with the pictures taken during the course. We laugh and enjoyed watching the videos, and I think that some of them were very creatives and funny.

To finish with the ceremony, we gave to the students a certificate that proves the achievement of the English course. At the end, we shared a small snack with the kids.

Teaching Practicum 1: Extra Practice.

Topic: Olive Oil.
Reading.


The second class was developed by the group 02T.

In warm up stage, teacher Wendy provided students with some pieces of paper and marker and we were asked to get in pairs, we had to put the page above our partner's head and make the drawing that teacher Wendy suggested.


Moreover, in presentation stage we were given with a worksheet about vocabulary that we should complete by matching the a word with the meaning that we thought that belonged. Then, we shared our answers and teacher explained the vocabulary that was unknown for us.

To proceed with During stage, a text  and a worksheet about Olive Oil were given and we were encouraged to read the text. Also, we completed the questions in the worksheet and shared the answer with the class.

Furthermore, in the board was wrote four stages: The beginning, Benefits, Uses, and The future. According with text that we had already read, we should write one of the stages previously presented in a blank page. Then, we passed to the front to explain the stage that we were in charged with.

To conclude, we were asked to stand up and to make a circle. In this activity some flashcards with untidy spelling of the vocabulary were showed and we had to guess the word.

Teaching Practicum 1: Extra practice.

Topic: The wisdom that binds us together.


To start the class, students were presented with the game "Broken Telephone". Students were asked to make two lines and a proverb was showed students should pass the phrase by whispering it to the next person and the last student in the line had to write the proverb in the board, if the proverb was well written, got a point.

In Pre-Stage, students were asked what they thought that a proverb was, when students gave some clues, teachers specify the meaning and provide some examples of proverbs. Also, students were presented with new vocabulary and they were given pieces of proverbs and students had to find the partner that had the other part of the proverb.

Moreover, students were provided with two worksheet, that they should answer by reading a text. Students were encouraged to read loud the text, and when they finished to complete the worksheet, they compared the answers with the whole group.

To continue with the class, students were asked to get in pairs and to stand up, they had to choose a paper and read the proverb that the paper had. Then, students were encourage to tell their partner and to the whole class an experience related with the proverb.

To conclude, a paper with a proverb was choosen by the students. Students had to represent the proverb through a drawing and then pass to the front of the class to show their drawing and their classmates had to guess the proverb.

Topic: Toyland.
Class Nº 20: Reading



In warm-up stage, students were introduced with the "Hot potatoe" activity. Students should pass a ball, and when the music stop the students who had the ball, must pass to the front and choose a page with scrambled words related with the Toy's vocabulary and students had to put them in order.

To continue with the lesson, teacher Karla reviewed the adjectives and previous vocabulary in a very interesting way. Teacher Karla brought real toys in order to make the class more atractive. Also, students were asked to stand up and read the spelling of each toy and then students were asked to close their eyes while teacher Karla was hiding one object. Students opened their eyes and they had to see carefully which item was missing.

Moreover, students were given three worksheets. First, teacher Yesmin read a text and students were encouraged to read it. When students had already finished to read, they answered the questions to then, compare with the whole class, the answers.

In addition, students were asked to stand up and to get in pairs. In a desk, were placed small images of the toy vocabulary and students had to take some images in order to create a small conversation with their partner.

To finish the lesson, students were divided in two groups. They were provided with some scrambled words and students should form the sentences that teacher Hazel was going to say and the group that finished first, had the oportunity to throw a ball in to a roulette and to get some points. The group that got more point, won the activity.

Teaching Practicum 1. Teachers: Fernando Canales, Georgina Hernandez, Fatima Arias, Giovanni Abrego and Vanesa Jovel.

Topic: Toyland.
Class Nº 19: Listening


The class was worked in groups and the stages were split for each teacher in order to improve our teamwork skill.

The class started with a dynamic, where students were asked to stand up and sit on the floor. Then teacher Georgina showed a box and a key chain, students were asked to close their eyes while teacher was placing the key chain, when students opened they eyes, they were asked to say the preposition of the key chain, for example: the key chain is next to the box.

Then, teacher Giovanni was in charge of Pre-stage. Students reviewed the previous vocabulary and the pronunciation of each toy. Also, students were presented with the seven prepositions with the previous grammar section.

Furthermore, students were given a worksheet, which was completed by listening to an audio, related with the prepositions of place and the toys vocabulary. Teacher Fernando asked students to stand up and to compare the answers with their classmates.

In the Post-stage, flashcards of the toy's vocabulary were pasted around the classroom in different places. Afterwards, students were asked to stand up and to listen teacher Fatima's instructions, for example when teacher Fatima "Where is the ball?", students should run and take the flashcard of the ball and they had to say the prepositions were the image was placed.

Finally, Wrap-up stage was developed by teacher Vanesa. Students were asked to stand up and to play the game "Hot potatoe", students passed  a marker while teacher Vanesa was counting facing the board and the students who take the marker at the and, should answer a question of a preposition of place by using a box and a key chain.

Class Nº 18: Grammar


In warm up stage, students were asked to stand up, take a piece of paper with the spelling of a toy and match it with the correct image. Also, students check the pronunciation of each toy.

For presentation stage, teacher Fernando reviewed the grammar section "Do you have...?", "Yes, I do, No, I don't have...". Moreover, in practice stage, teacher presented seven prepositions of place and put some imagenes in different positions and places, then, students were presented with the question: "Where is the...?", and students had to run and take the image by saying the preposition were the image was.

To conclude, a worksheet was presented where students had to see the image representing some prepositions and choose the correct answer. In the second part, students should order the sentences presented, students compared the answers with their classmates.




Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Yesmin Perez.

Topic: Toyland.
Class Nº17: Vocabulary


To start the class, students were asked to stand up and to get in pairs while in the board were written some sentences. What students were going to do, was to check and correct the sentences in order to  review previous vocabulary.

Then, teacher Yesmin introduced the new vocabulary and the grammar section "Do you have?" with their respective answers: "Yes, I do"," No, I don't". Also, students were given some pieces of paper with the images of toys, students were encouraged to asked their classmates the question with the name of a toy "Do you have...?" and their classmates had to answer "Yes, I do", "No, I don't" according with the object that they had.

Moreover, a worksheet was given to the students in which students should write the numbers by using the spelling of the images presented in a box. When students completed the worksheet, they shared their answers and compare it with their classmates.

At the end, teacher Yesmin gave to the students a page, where they draw their favorite toy. Then, students passed to the front and described the toy that they had drawn and their classmates should guess it.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Georgina Alfaro and Giovanni Abrego.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº16: Reading.


This class was developed with the help of some classmates, due to problems with the weather conditions, kids were not able to get to the university.

To start the class, teacher Georgina asked students to get in pairs and to play a game call "Hand to hand". Students should touch their partner's body part that teacher was going to say, for example, if she said, touch your head, we had to touch with our heads the partner's head.

Moreover, teacher Giovanni reviewed the previous vocabulary and the adjectives: beautiful, ugly, big, small, long and short. Then, students were asked to share their favorite part of their body, using vocabulary and adjectives.

In addition, students were presented with a piece of paper with an small description. Students must read the pasage and complete the questions given in a worksheet. Also, students read the answers of the questions and they compared with the classmates.

In the post stage, a paper page was given to the students where they had to draw their favorite body part and to write a sentence related with their favorite body part by using one or two adjectives and students needed to pass at the front and explain their drawing.

To conclude, a circle with the desks was made in order to play the dynamic "Body salad". Students were asigned with two parts of the body "arm and foot", when somebody said one of the two body parts, the students with that belonged to that part must change place and the person that was not sitting had to say either arm, foot or body salad.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Fatima Arias and Vanesa Jovel.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº 15: Listening.



To start the class, teacher Fatima asked students to stand up and to get it groups of three. Students had to see the spelling of a body part to then draw it in the board and the group who finished first got a point.

In presentation stage, teacher Vanesa asked students to help her to paste the correct spelling of the body parts vocabulary in their corresponding images. Also, students reviewed the adjectives and the grammar seccion "I have...", "I don't have...".
Students were asked to pass at the front and to write a negative o positive sentence by using body parts vocabulary, adjectives and the grammar seccion.

Then, students were given a worksheet with some questions which they must complete by listening to an audio. Students listed to the audio three times, the first time to get familiar with it, and then to complete the questions in the worksheet. Moreover, teacher Fatima encouraged students to share their answers with the classmates.

Furthermore, students were listed in order to past at the front and pick a flashcard. The flashcard contained an image of a monster and students had to describe their monster using the body parts vocabulary, adjectives, colors, and the grammar section "I have, I don't have" by saying the phrase "I'm a monster...".

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         



         At the end, a memory game was
presented where students should find the image with the corresponding spelling. The student who found more matches, got a price.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Hazel Rivas and Abigail Amaya.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº14: Grammar.


Students were presented with a poster of a body, where they introduced the part of the body vocabulary and the adjectives: ugly, beautiful, big and small. Moreover, teacher Hazel presented the grammar "I have...", "I don't have..." to form sentences with the parts of the body and the adjectives.

Then, students were asked to stand up and get in groups of three. Teacher Hazel gave students some scrambled words and they had to form the sentences that they heard. The group that formed more sentences got a point.

Furthermore, a piece of paper was given to the students where they should draw some parts of the body that teacher described, until form a kid. Then, students had to show each other their drawings.

To finish the lesson, kids had to get in pairs and they must answer some questions, if they answered right they had the oportunity to throw a ball in a roulette which contained an amount of point, if the ball hit the place that has the highest number they win.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Karla Pineda and Karla Rajo


Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº13: Vocabulary


Teacher Karla Rajo started the class with a dynamic called " The bottle". Students had to spin the bottle and choose a part of the body to then, pasted in the correct place of the body.

Students were presented with ten flashcards about the part of the body with their respective spelling. Teacher Karla emphasized in the pronunciation of each part of the body in order to improve students pronunciation and that they could identify the spelling with the part of the body.

Therefore, students were asked to stand up and to be in groups. At the back of the classroom were two desks with some part of the body, and the first student in the line had to pass the part of the body thta the teacher had said and then, pasted in the correct place with the correct spelling.

Then, students played the game "Simon Says". In the board was pasted the face of a kid, and students had to go where the face was and then say to their classmates: "Simon says touch you..." and the students had to touch that part of the body but when the students just were saying "touch your..." the students who touch the part of the body loose the game because they hadn't said "Simon".

To finish, students were given a worksheet where the students had to draw with different colors the part of the body that the teacher was going to say. At the end, students had to pass at the front and present their drawing.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Vanesa Jovel and Fatima Arias.


Topic: Insect life.
Class Nº12: Reading


Students were presented with the dynamic "Fly swatter". Students should stand up and make two lines, in the board were pasted pictures of the insects and students were given a fly swatter. When teacher Fatima said the name of an insect students had to run and touch the image with the fly swatter. The group that "killed" more insects got a point.

Nine flashcards of the insects were pasted in the board, students played the hot potato in order to pass at the front choose a sheet if paper with the spelling of an insect and pasted in the correct place. Teacher Vanesa asked students if they remember the pronunciation of each insect, and they had to repeat the pronunciation to improve it. Then, five adjectives were reviewed and students were asked to match an insect with the adjective that they thought that was the most suitable.

Moreover, students were given a worksheet with a story of the insects, they had to read it and answer some questions. Then, students should compared the answers with a classmate and with the whole class.

To finish, students were provided with glue, scissor and a worksheet. Students had to red a sentence and look for the right insect that was presented in the sentence, they had to cut the image of the insect and pasted in the correct space with the correct sentence. Students were encourage to read the sentences and to compare their answers.
