Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Georgina Alfaro and Giovanni Abrego.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº16: Reading.


This class was developed with the help of some classmates, due to problems with the weather conditions, kids were not able to get to the university.

To start the class, teacher Georgina asked students to get in pairs and to play a game call "Hand to hand". Students should touch their partner's body part that teacher was going to say, for example, if she said, touch your head, we had to touch with our heads the partner's head.

Moreover, teacher Giovanni reviewed the previous vocabulary and the adjectives: beautiful, ugly, big, small, long and short. Then, students were asked to share their favorite part of their body, using vocabulary and adjectives.

In addition, students were presented with a piece of paper with an small description. Students must read the pasage and complete the questions given in a worksheet. Also, students read the answers of the questions and they compared with the classmates.

In the post stage, a paper page was given to the students where they had to draw their favorite body part and to write a sentence related with their favorite body part by using one or two adjectives and students needed to pass at the front and explain their drawing.

To conclude, a circle with the desks was made in order to play the dynamic "Body salad". Students were asigned with two parts of the body "arm and foot", when somebody said one of the two body parts, the students with that belonged to that part must change place and the person that was not sitting had to say either arm, foot or body salad.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº 15: Listening.



To start the class, teacher Fatima asked students to stand up and to get it groups of three. Students had to see the spelling of a body part to then draw it in the board and the group who finished first got a point.

In presentation stage, teacher Vanesa asked students to help her to paste the correct spelling of the body parts vocabulary in their corresponding images. Also, students reviewed the adjectives and the grammar seccion "I have...", "I don't have...".
Students were asked to pass at the front and to write a negative o positive sentence by using body parts vocabulary, adjectives and the grammar seccion.

Then, students were given a worksheet with some questions which they must complete by listening to an audio. Students listed to the audio three times, the first time to get familiar with it, and then to complete the questions in the worksheet. Moreover, teacher Fatima encouraged students to share their answers with the classmates.

Furthermore, students were listed in order to past at the front and pick a flashcard. The flashcard contained an image of a monster and students had to describe their monster using the body parts vocabulary, adjectives, colors, and the grammar section "I have, I don't have" by saying the phrase "I'm a monster...".

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         



         At the end, a memory game was
presented where students should find the image with the corresponding spelling. The student who found more matches, got a price.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Hazel Rivas and Abigail Amaya.

Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº14: Grammar.


Students were presented with a poster of a body, where they introduced the part of the body vocabulary and the adjectives: ugly, beautiful, big and small. Moreover, teacher Hazel presented the grammar "I have...", "I don't have..." to form sentences with the parts of the body and the adjectives.

Then, students were asked to stand up and get in groups of three. Teacher Hazel gave students some scrambled words and they had to form the sentences that they heard. The group that formed more sentences got a point.

Furthermore, a piece of paper was given to the students where they should draw some parts of the body that teacher described, until form a kid. Then, students had to show each other their drawings.

To finish the lesson, kids had to get in pairs and they must answer some questions, if they answered right they had the oportunity to throw a ball in a roulette which contained an amount of point, if the ball hit the place that has the highest number they win.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Karla Pineda and Karla Rajo


Topic: Body Talk!
Class Nº13: Vocabulary


Teacher Karla Rajo started the class with a dynamic called " The bottle". Students had to spin the bottle and choose a part of the body to then, pasted in the correct place of the body.

Students were presented with ten flashcards about the part of the body with their respective spelling. Teacher Karla emphasized in the pronunciation of each part of the body in order to improve students pronunciation and that they could identify the spelling with the part of the body.

Therefore, students were asked to stand up and to be in groups. At the back of the classroom were two desks with some part of the body, and the first student in the line had to pass the part of the body thta the teacher had said and then, pasted in the correct place with the correct spelling.

Then, students played the game "Simon Says". In the board was pasted the face of a kid, and students had to go where the face was and then say to their classmates: "Simon says touch you..." and the students had to touch that part of the body but when the students just were saying "touch your..." the students who touch the part of the body loose the game because they hadn't said "Simon".

To finish, students were given a worksheet where the students had to draw with different colors the part of the body that the teacher was going to say. At the end, students had to pass at the front and present their drawing.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Vanesa Jovel and Fatima Arias.


Topic: Insect life.
Class Nº12: Reading


Students were presented with the dynamic "Fly swatter". Students should stand up and make two lines, in the board were pasted pictures of the insects and students were given a fly swatter. When teacher Fatima said the name of an insect students had to run and touch the image with the fly swatter. The group that "killed" more insects got a point.

Nine flashcards of the insects were pasted in the board, students played the hot potato in order to pass at the front choose a sheet if paper with the spelling of an insect and pasted in the correct place. Teacher Vanesa asked students if they remember the pronunciation of each insect, and they had to repeat the pronunciation to improve it. Then, five adjectives were reviewed and students were asked to match an insect with the adjective that they thought that was the most suitable.

Moreover, students were given a worksheet with a story of the insects, they had to read it and answer some questions. Then, students should compared the answers with a classmate and with the whole class.

To finish, students were provided with glue, scissor and a worksheet. Students had to red a sentence and look for the right insect that was presented in the sentence, they had to cut the image of the insect and pasted in the correct space with the correct sentence. Students were encourage to read the sentences and to compare their answers.

Class Nº11: Listening


The class started with a dynamic called "Insect Basquet". Students were given with a name of an insect, and when teacher Geovany said the name of an insect, the students who was assigned that name, had to run and sit in another desk.

Teacher Georgina asked the students if they remember the previous vocabulary of the insect, they started to pronounce some of them. Then teacher Georgina presented five adjectives, like ugly, beautiful, dangerous, big, and small. Students were encouraged to pass at the front en form a sentence using the colors, adjectives and the insects.

Students were presented with a worksheet, they had to listen an audio and complete the questions. Therefore, students had to compare the answers with their classmates.

To finish, students reviewed the adjectives and the insect vocabulary. Also, they were given a drawing of an insect and students should painted with their favorites colors.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Yesmin Perez


Topic: Insect life
Class Nº10: Grammar


Students were presented with the dynamic called "The electricity". Students were asked to stand up, to hold hands and to close their eyes. The student in the middle of the circle had to press his classmates hand, while teacher Yesmin was hiding and object. When the last student in the circle feel the "electricity" had to open the eyes and look for the object.

Students were presented with the vocabulary of the insects and their pronunciation. Also, teacher Yesmin tried to teache the singular and plural of the insects.

Although, students were supposed to be presented eight adjectives, teacher Yesmin presented only two. Students were given a worksheet where they had to answer the questions by using the verb "BE".

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Fernando Canales

Topic: Insect life
Class Nº9: Vocabulary


In warm up stage teacher Fernando asked the students to look below their desks and to take a piece of paper with the name of an insect. Flashcards of the insect vocabulary were previously pasted in the board, so students have to see the piece of paper with the spelling of an insect and try to match the picture with the spelling. Some of the spellings were right, but the ones that weren't, teacher Fernando pasted in their correct image.

Furthermore, teacher focused in the pronunciation of each insect and encouraged students to pronounce them. Also students were presented with the questions: "What color is it?, What is your favorite insect?, What insect don't you like?".

Moreover, students were asked to stand up and to make a circle. They took an image of an insect and they had to asked and answer the questions presented to their next classmate.

To finish the class, students should be in two groups and one of the members of the group had to heard the insect that teacher said softly and then go to describe the insect that the teacher had said. The group that guessed more insect got a price.

Teaching Practicum 1: Teacher Karla Rajo and Karla Pineda.

Topic: Great outfit!
Class Nº8: Reading


First, teacher Karla Rajo, asked the students to sit down in the floor and make a circle. The teacher put a roulette in the floor which had pictures of the clothes, the student who spin up the roulette should said the name of the clothes that was choosen and write a sentence in the board.

Second, teacher Karla Pineda, reviewed the vocabulary clothes and encouraged students to pronounce them. Then, teacher Karla presented a book with an story, at the first time she read the book, but then students should read it by themselves.

Finally, students were given a worksheet with some questions about the story that they had read before. Students had to complete the questions alone, to then compare the answers with a partner and whole class.


















Extra Class: September 18th, 2015

This class was made with the purpose to improve the teaching of Listening and reading skills by providing activities that are essential for these areas in order to create a good English class.
 
 To start with the class, teacher Orlando told us to make a brainstorm about the word "bulling". Then, we were asked to stand up and to make a circle, and we were given a ball that we needed to pass it, we played this game to create some groups. The teacher provided us some worksheets, where in the first part we should complete it with our team's help, and the last part by listening to an audio.


To continue with the class, we played the game "Rabbits and Caves", to make new teams. We got in trios  and when teacher said Rabbit the students who were in the midle of the two classmates had to run to another cave,but  if the teacher said Cave, the two students who were the caves had to change the person in the midle and took for other classmate.

Then, we were given a worksheet that we had to answer by listening to a song and when we finished to complete the worksheet we compared the answers with our classmates and with the whole class.

Class Nº7


Teacher Hazel started the class reviewing the previous topic (The Clothes). Then, she introduced the new grammar topic, the questions "What is this?", "What are those?" by using the answers: "It's a", "They are". The teacher explained very well the topic, and then, left students to practice the questions and the answers by themselves.


Furthermore, students were presented with the "Clothes line" activity. The pictures of clothes were holding of the clothes line, students were asked to stand up and to make two lines. They had to listen carefully the the clothes that teacher Abigail was going to say, students should walk slowly and take the picture. The group that got more pictures won a price.

At the end of the class, teacher Hazel presented an activity where the students had to stand up and make a two groups. Below the board was a pile a of clothes and when the teacher says the name of a clothes, students should run a take the correct clothes, also students were asked to wear the clothes and the group that wore more clothes got a point.

Class Nº6: Grammar


To start the class, teacher Vanesa showed flashcards of the clothes to the students and they were asked if they knew the pronunciation of the clothes. Then, were introduced with the game "hanged man", students were asked to say any word of the alphabet in order to form the correct spelling of the clothes.

Teacher Fatima presented eight flashcards of the clothes vocabulary and with the grammar: "It's a", "They are". teacher fatima clarified, "It's a" is for singular objects and that "They are" is for plural objects. Moreover, she asked the students to pass at the front and write the corresponding sentence for an specific clothes item. Teacher fatima was correcting when was necessary and using CCQ.


Furthermore, teacher Vanesa asked students to stand up and to make a line. Students had to listen carefully to the clothes item that teacher was going to say, to then, run and touch the picture, the last student who touched the flashcard had to write the correct sentence that belonged to the flashcard.

Then, students were given a worksheet in which they should complete a sentence according to the item presented. When students finished compared answers with their classmates and then with the teacher.

To finish the class students were asked to stand up, also we asked to three teachers to help in the activity. The teachers were given a sheet of paper where they should draw the clothes item thta teacher was going to say to then show it to the students and they had to guess the item, the student who guessed more got a price.
